-President Wilson notified England that the U. S. would not
submit to an illegal blockade.
-Ed Valley of Harpers Ferry opened up a butcher chop in the old
Gund building
-John Quillin bought the bar fixtures
-Mary Cavanaugh and Ethel Melaven had birthday parties
-M. D. Kelly took charge as postmaster
-Rose Ann Ford was operated for appendicitis.
-Wexford visitors: Will Clark, Waukon; Mrs. J. M. Guider and
children, Lansing
-Anna Manning is teaching at Oil Springs; Nellie Manning, at
Russells; Kathryn Fitzgerald, at Sweet Ridge; Rose
Mullaney, Lamb school
-The wedding banns of Joe Healy and Mazie Roche were announced.
-Cherry Mound callers: Will McAndrew family, St. Paul; Jas. Burke
and wife, Brownsville; Thomas Fitzgerald, Howard, S. D.
-John Fitzgerald, aged 45, who died Nov. 1st, was buried on the
4th, being survived by a wife and three little girls.
-English Bench visitors: Thos. Bulman, Jr. and son, Sidney,
Pawnee, Okla.; Mrs. A. L. Moorhouse, Waterloo; Leo Verdon and
wife, Lansing.
-Visitors at New Albin: Mrs. J. C. Brophy, Bruce McMahon,
Lansing, who is clerking in the Co-operative store; also Mrs. M.
B. Yeoman and children.
-Mrs. James Riley, 75, former Lansing lady died Monday in
Minneapolis. P. Short, P. Whalen and Mrs. M. Ward of Lycurgus
attended the funeral.
-Married: Charles Zimmerman and Amelia Bechtel, Church; Perdy
Withey and Emma Herber, LaCrosse.
-H. M. Kevan, Clarion, bought the John Bakewell farm north of
Lansing and will raise pure bred Angus cattle and also operate a
box factory there.
-Born, to Mr. and Mrs. Frank Spinner, boy No. 8 and their tenth
child; also a girl at Wm. Saams.
-Frances Luth, Lansing, is teaching at Village Creek
-Goodells sold their farm to G. W. Reiser for $22,000,
taking in the Farmers Home for $5000
-Mayme Rellihan entertained for Mayme Serene, a this months
bride
-H. C. Nielander, Dr. Yeoman, L. F. May and J. W. H. Cooper have
the Sommerheim out for hunting.
-Weeks Lansing visitors: John Beardmore, English Bench;
Mrs. H. Grau, Milwaukee; Clara Beck, Dubuque; Mrs. E. J. Everson,
LaCrosse; Mrs. R. Steger and baby, McGregor; Mrs. M. F. Healy,

mother and sister Elizabeth, Waukon; also George Dravis and
George Rellihan; Mrs. J. W. Perry, Pepin, Wis., Bessie Tully,

-New baby boys this week at the James Clancy and Wm. Gee homes.
-Edward Liddiard, 56, was a victim of dementia and hung himself
in the barn on his brothers farm in Union Prairie.
-Waukon Commercial Club, 80 members, enjoyed a banquet at the
Baptist church, and re-elected all old officers.
-E. J. Drew of Decorah and Mary Ryan were married at West Ridge
on Nov. 3rd by Father Slattery.
-Ellison Orr, A. M. May, E. M. Hancock and C. F. Pye are trying
to organize an Allamakee County Historical Society
-The County Equity convention will be held Nov. 27 with Dan
Williams, John Flage and Carl Hiom in charge
-Capt. N. Colsch suffered minor injuries when hit by a Ford
-Barber Ernie Raymond moved back from Lansing
-The marriage banns of Veronica McGinnnis and Jos. Ward were
announced
-Mr. and Mrs. Adolph Bleilie have a baby daughter
-Prof. Charles Phillips new band will give a concert Nov.

-Hon. W. S. Hart and son James are home from Chicago.

-J. J. Riley, 62, former resident of Hanover, died at the county
home and was buried in Mt. Olivet.
