Mr. and Mrs. Hale Burling returned Saturday from their trip to
Waterloo and Clarksville.
Mrs. Louis Schutte and Mrs. Schepple visited Luana relatives
between trains yesterday.
Winifred and Harold Phillips went to Guttenberg yesterday to
visit at the Emil Ihms home.
Miss Nell Hedemann returned to Garnavillo yesterday afer a visit
to Miss Irene Meier.
The Democrat says W.S. Hart will not accept the
appointment as judge even if tendered him.
West Union will vote Aug. 19th on granting a
"lickerish" light franchise to Miller & Sons of
Clermont.
Frank Hagensick fell from a ladder at Elkader Tuesday and
dislocated his shoulder, the Democrat tells us.
Judge Hobson is at his home in West Union much improved in health
and able to walk up town every day.
Mr. and Mrs. Roe Lesan of Waukon passed through here yesterday
enroute to West Union for a vacation visit.
Mr. and Mrs. C.W. Meier were over Sunday guests of their son, Co.
Treasurer Meier, and family at Elkader.
Rev. and Mrs. Schepple of Burr Oak were visiting Postville
relatives, the Weihe families, the first of the week.
Miss Maud Lloyd Jones returned to Dodgeville, Wis., yesterday
after a few days visit at the Wm. Harris home.
Mr. and Mrs. H.S. Luhman and son Hubert left last Thursday on an
auto trip to Minneapolis to visit Lee Luhman.
The Misses Emma and Jennie Nicolay left Monday morning for
Mitchell, S.D. to visit at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Veit.
Miss Gertrude Schroder retuned Monday from a several months stay
in Seattle, Wash., and is again on duty at Robert's elevator.
Having bought a motorcycle, Kenneth Sanders has changed his name
from "Spud" to "Mike".
Dr. A.A. Schmidt has joined the automobile army, having bought a
Ford machine this week.
Word comes from Los Angeles that Katie McCunniff died in that
city July 23, but no further particulars are given.
Ed Medary was calling on Postville folks Saturday while retuning
from the democratic state convention to his home in Waukon.
Ezra McGhee and family of Waukon are guests of his sister, Mrs.
Frank Parnell, at the Clark cottage, relates the McGregor
News.
A box and button factory employing about eighty men is an
industry the Lansing Commercial Club is attempting to land for
that city.
Charley Wegner came home from McGregor last Saturday
considerabley improved in health, and all hope he may in due time
fully recover.
A hay rack full of jolly boys and girls drove out to Grand Meadow
Farm Tuesday evening and enjoyed themselves with the Williams
young folks.
Mr. and Mrs. Nelson McGhee left this morning for their home at
Hardin after a pleasant visit with their daughter, Mrs. Frank
Parnell -- McGregor News.
Mrs. C. Rasmusen and Bessie returned Tuesday from a protracted
visit with relatives at Waterville.
Remember the evening Rock Island passenger train will be held at
West Union next Wednesday, Aug. 7, until 10:30 on account of
Bryan's lecture.

that there is on file in the office of the Clerk of the District
court of Iowa, in Allalamee co., at Waukon .... the petition of
plaintiff .... he alleges that he is the absolute owner in fee
simple of [above described property] ... alleges that defendant
James Lewis deeded said premises to Davis S. Wilson, by Warranty
Deed, prior to March 23, [1852?] but said deed was lost before
being recorded. .....defendants D.W. Lyons, J.H. Pinny and J.H.
Penny never had any right, title or interest ... to described
premises .. for the reason that D.W. Lyons, who conveyed the N
1/2 of NW 1/4 of Section 21 to J.H. Pinny or J.H. Penny, never
had title to the [premises in question] ... and that said
description in said deed from D.W. Lyons to J.H. Pinny or J.H.
