Good news comes from Henry BAKER, formerly located here with H. O. HOWARD. he was recently elected treasurer of the Crab Creek Lumber Co., at Seattle, Washington.

Roland JOHNSON was taken to La Crosse Wednesday for an operation for appendicitis, and we are informed that the operation was successful, and Mrs. Johnson reports him improving.

A bargain has been made between the Presbyterians and the WELSH sisters for the sale of the Presbyterian parsonage. Rev. VAN NICE has moved his family into the OPFER residence on Beeman hill.

Chas. SAEWART, while preparing to move his threshing outfit from John JOHNSON's on Round Prairie last Saturday evening, got a couple of fingers of his right hand badly smashed. Chas. says his hand was not as hard as the pulleys on the machine and he got the worst of it.

Ole HALVERSON of Thompson, Iowa, spent the past week with Allamakee county relatives, and yesterday made this office a visit. Mr. Halverson informs us he came to Allamakee county in 1867, locating in Union Prairie township, and relocated at Thompson Iowa, thirteen years ago, and this was his first visit since removing west. He found many canges about town.
