The E.F. Medary, W.E. Beddow and A.T. Nierling families of Waukon
are camping on the Iowa; and the Al Grimm, I.E. Beeman and R.B.
May folks are back from Alexander, Minn.
The G.W. Hayes home in Waukon has been sold to Henry Straate of
Jefferson township.
The steamer "J.S." took an excursion of 1200 people to
LaCrosse on August 10.
Samuel Bauman, a pioneer of Lansing township, died Aug. 13, after
a year's illness with paralysis, aged 78. He was born in
Switzerland and came to America with his parents in 1851. A wife
and 14 children survive, ten of them being present at his
funeral.
James Gee has retuned from Virginia, tiring of farm life there.
Stewart Cooper wears the marshal's star in Lansing while Harry
Thompson is in Dakota.
James Clancy found an 8-grain pearl last week which he sold for
$100.00.

OBITUARY
SUSANNA V. ELSEY
Was born April 22, 1849, in Monroe, Wis., and died in Waukon,
Iowa, Aug. 24, 1900, aged 57 years, 4 months and 2 days. Her
parents moved to Allamakee county, Iowa, the same year in which
she was born. Here she lived until she was 32 years of age, then
moved to Dakota where she was married to David G. Glenn. To this
union were born 5 children, 3 daughters and two sons. She leaves
husband, children, one sister and four brothers to mourn her
loss. The funeral was held from Bethel church, Sunday, Aug. 26th,
conducted by Rev. R. M. Montgomery. Interment at Minert cemetery.
