-Lansing school teachers were given a party by Mrs. Ray, wife of
the Supt. Anna Koehm and Klara Thorsten won honors at flinch.
-The E. W. A. club met with Miss Cooper and elected officers:
Pres., Miss Hemenway; Vice Pres., Miss Hale; Secy and
Treas., Miss Klara Thorsten.
-Otto Stirn of Church has gone to Dakota; also Miss Theresa Casey
of French Creek.
-Miss Mary Gleason of Wexford is teaching the Leppert school in
French Creek.
-Mrs. Wm. Cota and children of Harpers Ferry have gone to their
new home at Graceville, Minn., and Mrs. C.C. Byrnes and baby to
North Dakota.
-Born to Mr. and Mrs. John Wiedner of Harpers Ferry, a 10-lb.
boy; also a boy to Mr. and Mrs. A. Peterson, New Albin.
-The Will Nicholson family moved to Harpers Ferry to reside.
-Mrs. H. Dougherty died at her home in New Albin on April 7th.
-Miss Rose Deviney of Waukon is teaching the Climax school in
Taylor; Margaret Pierce, No. 1, Iowa township; and Mayme Moore,
Kanes Switch.
-Hon. W. S. Hart of Waukon is mentioned as a congressional
candidate against Haugen.
-Lansing visitors: Mrs. J. T. Chrischelles and son, Algona, James
Collins, Harry Dayton, Waukon; C. A. Peterson, Des Moines, who
will work for Henry Lenz; Miss Lulu Bacher, Waverly; H. Martin,
New Albin; Capt. W. S. Hart, Waukon.
-The B. F. Thomas, Otto Ruprecht and A. M. Fellows homes have
installed city water.
-P. H. Dempsey and son Joe, Knute Iverson, F. F. Whaley, Wm. Aird
and son and Martin Tully leave this week for Dakota; also Tom
Bakewell and Frank Henry.
-Charley Aird has taken charge of the Berringer blacksmith shop
on Second street.
-Julius Boeckh of Lansing and Harry Bartheld, LaCrosse, are
taking baths at Prairie du Chien.
-Mail clerk John Intlekofer and agent Bert Towle of East Elkport
are visiting Lansing home folks.
-G. W. Albert is building a new cottage on Front street, south of
Jake Zerbis
-Miss Erna Wier, who spent the winter with Lansing relatives,
returned home to New York.
-Mrs. Albert Widmeier and Dan Kenney are dangerously sick.
-Mr. and Mrs. Will Schafer have gone to Minneapolis to make their
home.
-Clam shells bring $15 per ton.
-Wm. Frye suffered a slight paralytic stroke.
-Miss Alvina Kerndt of Lycurgus leaves next week on a trip to
Washington, D. C.
-Lansing relatives and friends were grieved to learn of the death
of Mrs. Albert Magnusson, which took place at her home in Arcola,
Ill., on April 12. Albert is in the drug business there.
-Dr. D. Stock of Waukon has been appointed to look after the
health of the inmates at the county home.
-The Board of Supervisors have decided to submit the matter of a
new court house to the voters at the next general election.
-Rev. Kraft of Mays Prairie and Lansing has gone to his new
charge at Sheffield, Iowa, and will be succeeded by Rev. J. A.
Bogen.
-Rev. and Mrs. Swedberg of Center celebrated their golden wedding
anniversary last week.
-John Bakewell has gone to Dakota.
-Judge Fellows is holding court in Fayette county. He and Judge
Hobson will be re-nominated by the republicans without
opposition.
