-E. H. Fourt and Mr. and Mrs. Ed. Spencer from Waukon were Sunday
visitors at the A. C. Ames home.
-Minnie Morehonse called in Luana Monday.
-L. W. Ingels was a caller at W. M. Skipworth's Monday.
-Mr. and Mrs. A. D. Ingels spent Sunday at Mr. and Mrs. John
Mitchell's.
-Ross DeGraw of Quality Ridge called at the home of his aunt,
Mrs. M. Morehonse, Sunday.
-Roy Schilson of Minneapolis is visiting with his grandparents,
Mr. and Mrs. Tom May.
-Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Skipworth and daughter Grayce called at Edmund
DeGraw's Tuesday evening.
-Mrs. Helen Carmichael of Fayette is visiting at the present
writing with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Mitchell.
-There will be an ice cream social at the Hickory Creek school
house Friday evening, June 3rd, the proceeds to buy a bell. Our
teacher, Mrs. Jackson, can make the best ice cream that can be
furnished, so everybody come.
LYCURGUS
-We have had a week of beautiful weather.
-Annie Coyle returned Tuesday from a short visit with friends at
Monona.
-Mr. and Mrs. John Ronanye of Waukon, were callers at Mrs. Nees'
Sunday.
-Katie Puff went to Watertown, S. D., Monday for a visit with her
father and sisters.
-Emma Wendler of Lansing township was visiting her cousins, Mrs.
G. Troendle and Rose Beck, last week.
-Miss Caroline Bensch arrived from Dubuque Saturday and will
spend the summer here with her niece, Mrs. Agnes Fritz.
-Mr. and Mrs. Chris Johnson drove over to Decorah Wednesday. Mr.
Johnson returned Saturday, while Mrs. J. will spend a week with
their son Julius there.
-Hugh Coyle who went to Georgetown, Minn., two months ago to
spend the summer there returned last Saturday. He did not find
the country to his liking.
-Mr. and Mrs. James Ruth of Waukon, attended the sociable given
at the R. Bakewell home in Lansing township, Thursday. Also made
a short call on Lycurgus friends.

- ....Mr. and Mrs. Frank Klees. Both were born and reared in this
community and were always considered among our best young people.
MYRON
-Iner Evans was seen on our streets Sunday.
-Elmer Swinson was seen on our streets Sunday
-Mr. Bachtel made a trip to Postville Tuesday.
-Frank White was seen riding in his new carriage Sunday.
-Mr. and Mrs. Handgarder were in Postville Saturday.
-There was an iron peddler in Myron Saturday and now the iron is
all out of the city.
-Mr. and Mrs. Willard Adams were guests at Mr. and Mrs. Will
Adams' Sunday.
-Mrs. Ollie White was pleasantly entertained at the home of Mr.
and Mrs. Jas. Ewing Sunday.
VOLNEY
-Herman Peglow was a Rossville caller Monday.
-Robert Waskow was at Waukon the latter part of the week.
-Wm. Surring was at Waukon the latter part of the week.
-Children's Day services next Sunday at the Red school house.
-Another baby girl at Sam Goben's. Sam says everything goes right
now.
-A baby girl at Charles Thornton's home makes the home brighter,
a welcome guest.
-A house was struck by lightning north east of Watson in the
Sunday night storm.
-Taylor Roderick delivered several head of cattle to Mr. O'Brien
in Ludlow on Saturday last.
-Mr. Conway of Cherry Mound was buying cattle in this vicinity
the latter part of the week.

- .....Milwaukee spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. D. A. Henderson.
-Rev. Weineger gave an interesting talk to a large audience
Monday evening at the C. P. church.
-Will Schellsmidt has a very sore foot as the result of having
been bitten by a rattle snake while building a fence.
-Bertha Robey has returned home from Lenox College where she has
completed her final examinations and was one of the June
graduates.
-Friends of Mrs. J. W. Barlow are sorry to know she is
dangerously ill. Dr. A. S. Bowen of Waukon was called in
consultation with Dr. Myers, Saturday.
-Mrs. E. A Mitchell entertained informally Friday in honor of her
guests Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Mitchell, of Farmersburg and Mrs. John
Everall of Elkader.
-Experimentation is the basis of discovery and is proven to the
Monona base ball nine since they have engaged R. J. Leas and H.
A. Graham to assist them. Marvelous playing by our boys helped
Monona gain a victory over Ossian Sunday.
MYRON
-Good roads this week.
-Burdell Adams was at home Sunday.
-Ed Livingood has had his new barn raised.
-Mr. Ewing was at Ollie White's Sunday.
-Ed. Livingood made a trip to Postville Tuesday.
-Mr. Ollie White was seen in Postville Monday.

-Mr. and Mrs. Willard Adams were callers at Waukon Wednesday.
LYCURGUS
-Beautiful weather after the rain.
-Mrs. C. Ness transacted business at Waukon Thursday.
-Katherine Byrnes closed a successful term of school Saturday.
-Alfred Petrehn of New Albin, is a guest at the Jacob Marti home.
-Friends of Mrs. Christ Johnson will be grieved to hear that she

-Mrs. James Orr has returned from the hospital at Rochester,
Minn., the surgeons there deciding that she was in no immediate
danger.
-A party was in town last Monday from Brainard, trying to sell a
wagon load of strawberries, but had slow work as our local
patches furnish the needed supply.
-Horace Smith of Hardin, was a business visitor in our city. Mr.
S. is an invalid veteran, having lately suffered a stroke of
paralysis, but is partly recovered.
-The storm which passed over this locality Sunday evening was
quite severe on the crops between Postville and Myron, following
the path of the cyclone of September, '86. The accompanying hail
did much damage as far east as Hickory Creek.
DORCHESTER
-Mrs. Coppersmith is spending a few days in Chicago.
-Fred Luehr and daughters were Waukon callers Tuesday.
-John Teff came Monday evening to attend the wedding of his
brother.
-Miss Mabel Fretz of New Albin is visiting relatives here since
Friday.
-Misses Rice and Reynolds were New Albin visitors Thursday and
Friday.
-Mrs. McGuinness is spending a few days at the Quillin home on
West Ridge.
-Mr. and Mrs. H. B. May entertained a number of friends Sunday
afternoon.
-Mr. and Mrs. Henry Schulte of Jackson junction are visiting his
mother and brothers here.
-Mr. and Mrs. Steinbach attended the wedding of the latter's
cousin at Decorah Wednesday.
-Mrs. S. Rice and daughter, Mrs. Eckland, visited the Rice and
Reynolds families here last week.
-The marriage of Joseph H. Teff and Miss Lena Schulte was
solemnized at the St. Mary's church on Tuesday morning, at nine
o'clock, Rev. McCullough officiating. The attendants were Anna
Schulte and Max Teff. After the ceremony, a reception was held at
the home of the bride's parents Mr. and Mrs. B. Schulte, and was
attended by a large party of relatives and friends of the
contracting parties. Mr. and Mrs. Teff begin housekeeping at once
in their cozy home in this city, attended by the .......
