Carl Markwardt died Wednesday afternoon after a two weeks illness
from typhoid fever.
Several cases of scarlet fever have been reported.
Justin Bellows and his father left for Chicago Wednesday to
purchase an artificial foot for Justin.
Mrs. Louis Krumm of Brant Lake, South Dakota, was here for 14
days to visit her sick mother, Mrs. Drier. She says Louis has
bought another 150 acres of land and that they all are getting
accustomed to living up there.
Marshal Hawkins and Street Commissioner John Schulz were
appointed for another year at the council meeting last Friday.
April 27 Carl Meier will leave on the Steamer Patricia
for a trip to the old home in the old country.
Ethel McEwen is here from Madison for a visit.
At the last meeting of the fire department the following officers
were elected:

Foreman Co. No. 1, Wm. Oehring
Foreman Co. No. 2, Chas. Sonnkalb
Mr. Courson of western Iowa was here Tuesday and bought widow
Haines' house for $1600. He plans to open a wholesale buggy
business here.
Garnavillo residents would like connection with the outside world
and are talking about building an electric railway to connect
with either the Milwaukee or Burlington.
