DEATH.
Geo. PEARSON passed away Monday morning after severe suffering. His daughters, Mrs. CHURCH and Mrs. SAWDEY, of Chamberlain, S.D., and Mrs. Fred ERNST, of St. Paul, arrived in time to be with him during his last moments. Funeral services Wednesday at 1 P.M. Rev. BARNES, of New Albin, officiating.

BETHEL NEWS.

Tuesday Nov. 14 Geo. HARRIS, E.SWENSON and A.W. SWENSON started for "The Land of the Dakotas." A.W. with a view of locating somewhere in Minnie-ha-ha county.

William LEE, grandfather of Mrs. S.A. HARRIS, was at church Sunday. He is 85 years old and was an early settler in Decorah.

Arthur DRESSER and wife were at SWENSON's Sunday. Mrs. SWENSON used to play the organ for S.S. and church services for us. It pleases us to have persons that have attended at Bethel in days gone by come again whether young or old.

May BRAINARD is in your city helping to care for her aunt Manda McWILLIAMS, who has a little more than her share of the afflictions of this life to bear. She is doing it as ear without complaint as any one I ever saw.

Mr. and Mrs. Charley COOK are staying for the present with father COOK.

George HARRIS, Evan SWENSON and A.W. SWENSON have gone to South Dakota with the intention of buying farm lands.

Frank WELZEL is in Mason City to attend the annual buttermakers convention.

Diphtheria is causing much concern in Ossian and Independence.

Frank TULLER accompanied a carload of horses to Chicago Monday.

The Ernest BRANDT family, who recently sold their farm in South Dakota, have moved to Postville.

Christmas excursions to Europe are to be attempted this year; the fare from Postville to Hamburg being $50.75.
