Mrs. Geo. F. CROUCH and children of Oxford Junction, have been visiting with Mrs. H. STONE.
We are obligation to Mrs. Fred THOMA for a pail of nice plums.
Charley BURLING has gone to Fayette to attend the University.

Loui SCHROEDER was setting up the cigars on Wednesday on the advent of his first born, a boy.
IN MEMORIAM.
Lucius Dean ALWARD was born near Postville, Iowa, Nov. 16, 1866 and died Sept 4, 1891. Until a little over a year ago he had spent his life in or near Postville. An only son, he was his mother's support and counselor. He was a true son and a loyal brother.

MARRIED.
At the residence of C. POWELL in Post twp, on Sept. 10, 1891, by E. SWENSON, J.P. , Mr. Clarence POWELL of Post and Miss Pearl MAXWELL of Lansing.
OBITUARY.
Charles BURNHAM, one of the oldest residents of Franklin twp., died at his home near Hardin, on Thursday after a long and painful illness. His death has been expected for a long time, as his malady, dropsy, with other complications, was beyond the reach of medicine. Deceased was born near Woodstock, Champaign Co., Ohio, January 23rd, 1831, where he grew to manhood. He emigrated to Iowa in 1855 and located in Franklin twp on the farm where he died. He returned to Ohio in 1858 and was married to Elizabeth DEE, and in 1859 came back to Iowa to reside in the home that he had prepared. Four children were the fruits of this union. The following named survive him: Hilas C. BURNHAM and Mrs. Elma m. HINMAN. On May 24th, 1979 his wife died. On May 22d, 1881, he was again married to Mrs. A.D. AMES, who still survives him. He has held a number of offices of trust in the township, having been elected assessor and collector of taxes for a number of terms and has held the office of justice of the peace for almost 18 years. The funeral services were held at the M.E. church at Hardin.

Mr. and Mrs. Ed. SWENSON gave one of the finest dinner parties that is has been our good fortune to participate in for many a day.
In answer to a dispatch that his brother was not expected to live Mr. E. HARRIS and nephew, Sam HARRIS and wife left on the 5 o'clock train last evening for Ohio. Mr. HARRIS does not expect ot return here with his nephew, but will go to Baltimore, Md.

Dr. C.H. HUNT, the Dentist, formerly of McGregor, has located an office in Brick Block, Postville.
Harry THOMPSON, of Waukon, is learning photography with F.N. BEEDY.

Mr. Gersham LAMBERT has been sick, but is improving under the care of J.S. GREEN.
