WAUKON ITEMS.
Waukon is booming.

Landlord SLITOR intends that the Mason House shall be one of the finest.

G.W. STODDARD has been quite sick.

Mayor BEARCE, familiarly known as "Lib," is superintending the erection of our new city hall.

S.R. THOMPSON intends closing out his boot and shoe business and devote his entire attention to real estate and insurance.

The BOOMER bros. are rebuilding the burned corner.

The insurance companies have not yet paid Mr. PLEIMLING his loss on stock of clothing burned in February.

August MEYER, a wealthy farmer just east of town intends to make the corner just east of the Chicago Clothing House look much better.

Geo. HELMING is buying potatoes and shipping them to Hot Springs, S.D.

DIED.
Edna Levinna EVERT was born July 26, 2890 [sic] and died April 27, 1891, aged 9 months and 1 day. Parents Mr. and Mrs. Fred EVERT.

Old Mrs. NAGLE, four miles north of Luana, died of asthma Wednesday morning and was buried yesterday.

BIRTHS.
August TANGEMAN adds to the census. Carl MEYER rejoices in the advent of his first boy baby.

MARRIED.
W.W. HUBBELL, of the Oak Leaf creamery, married one of Waukon's best young ladies, Miss Flora PURDY, Wednesday evening.

DIED.
The sudden death of Willie LAUGHLIN, son of J.H. LAUGHLIN, occurred on Monday. He was in town on Thursday of last week, four days later he was dead. That dreaded scourge, diphtheria, fastened its grip upon him.

DIED.
J.F. REPP died near Waukon, May 11th and was buried on Tuesday by the officers of the Postville lodge, E.D. STILES and W.S. WEBSTER, assisted by members of Waukon lodge. Mr. STILES as W.M. of the Postville lodge purchasing a casket and securing a lot in our cememtery.[Waukon] The deceased was formerly a member of Brotherly Love Lodge, No. 204, and died without means.

The sudden deaath of James SHERIDAN was quite a shock to this community [Myron]. The services were held at the Waukon Catholic church.

Luverne, Iowa - Merrit E. HARDIN, the 15 year old son of D.A. HARDIN, was killed by the accidental discharge of a shot gun on Tuesday. Merrit was born at Postville, Iowa, Jan. 15, 1876.

Our thanks to Brown McWILLIAMS for a large and fine specimen of his German carp. He has a pond which is well stocked with these valuable fish.

Chas. SONNKALB, John LEUI, the CORCORAN boys and Mr. CONWAY, of Grand Meadow went down to Ion on a fishing excursion and abstracted about 100 pounds of brain food from the other end of Yellow River.

MARRIED.
At the residence of the bride's parents on May 20th, 1891, Mr. Lewis ERICKSON, of St. Ansgar, Iowa, to Miss Nettie STAFFORD, of Postville. Mr. ERICKSON is a pushing young business man who has but recently left Postville. Miss STAFFORD is an accomplished musician and a successful teacher.

DIED.
Charles J. WATTLES was born in Fillmore co. Minn, Aug. 15, 1882 and died in Postville May 16, 1891.

The funeral services of Miss Ula GRANGER, only daughter of Judge C.T. GRANGER, were held Sunday at his home.
