Postville Review
Postville, Allamakee Co. Iowa
June 20, 1891
The people of Postville were shocked and horrified to hear that Dr. F.H. LOW, our dentist, was found dead by the side of the Milwaukee track, at an early hour Friday morning. The body lay outside and clear of the track, the wheels having struck his head, cutting it in two. He went to bed at the Commercial last night at the usual time and was not seen to come down stairs by the night clerk, and hence it is probable that it must have been between 12:00 and 3:00 a.m. that he came down and went out, and that it must have been the 3:32 train that struck him. Why he went out at that time, shuch a wet, dark night as last night, and why, if he did go out he should have gone up the track beyond the depot is a mystery, unless it was premeditated suicide. He was a very exemplary christian young man, but somewhat reticent and odd in his ways.[note: extracted from a lengthly descriptive article]
