March 1, 1890
Anna RIDENOUR departed this life January 6th, 1890, at her home
in Hardin, aged 88 years, 10 months and 12 days. She was the
mother of two sons and three daughters.
Mrs. S. EARLY of Hardin has had a very bad time with the grip,
but is up on her feet again.
Mr. George KNEESKERN, of Frankville, seems to be recovering from
his mishap at the saw mill.
The following jurors were drawn from Allamakee county to serve at
the April term of the U.S. court at Dubuque:
Geo. J. HELMING, John BAXTER, Joseph HEISER, Thomas BAKEWELL,
Herman KERNDT, A.S. ANDERSON, G.H. BRYANT.
The retiring members of the council are C. THOMA and Jacob MEYER.

In Monona, Iowa at the home of the bride, Feb 26th, 1890; Mr.
Geo. L. LAND, of Franklin twp., Allamakee co., and Erdine H.
ATWOOD of Monona.
DEATHS.
Died, Feb 19th, 1890; Mrs. Ann MURRAY wife of John MURRAY, aged
60 years, 8 months and 24 days. Ann WATERS was born in Wickloo
county, Ireland, May 25th, 1829, where she lived with her parents
until April 1851, when they emigrated to Schuylkill county, Pa.
She was married to John MURRAY at Minersville, Pa., July 3d,
1854. On March 5th, 1878, with her husband she moved to Alamakee
county, Iowa, where she resided until her death. She leaves a
husband and 7 children to mourn her loss.
Died, at her home in Grand Meadow twp., on Friday, Feb. 21st, in
childbirth, Mrs. Fred LAMMERT. Mrs. LAMMERT was formerly Miss
Sophis HAAN and was well known in Postville where she was married
about a year ago. The funeral was held at the Lutheran church on
Sunday and was the largest gathering perhaps ever seen in
Postville on such an occasion. A large portion of the assembly
could not get into the house.

Waukon Standard

March 6, 1890
MARRIED.
Thayles Deremo of Elon and Miss White *of Yellow River were
married last Thursday in Waukon by C. S. Stilwell. In the evening
Thayles parents invited a large number of young people in and
dancing, music and games were indulged in and a splendid time was
had until a late hour next morning. We join in wishing the newly
wedded couple much happiness in the future.

DIED.
DIAL. -- At his home in Union Prairie township, Friday, February
28th, 1890, suddenly, of heart disease, David Dial, aged 50
years, 9 months and 20 days. Mr. Dial was born in Westmoreland
county, Penn., May 7, 1839; came to Iowa when a young man, and
has since resided here. He enlisted in Co. A, 2d Battalion, 16th
U. S. Regulars, March 13, 1862 and served three years. He was
married to Maggie Baldwin in 1868. A wife, two daughters, one
son, and other near relatives remain to mourn his death. He was a
kind husband and
father. The funeral services at the house were conducted by Rev.
J. M. Wedgwood of Waukon, and at the Baptist church in Rossville
by Rev. C. W. C. Ericson, Sunday afternoon where many friends
gathered to pay their tribute of love and respect. "Be ye
also ready; for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of Man
cometh."

aided us by sympathy and assistance in the time of our affliction
by the death of our loved husband and father. May our Heavenly
father reward you and be with you in times of trouble.

We have received a letter from our old friend J.W. PATTERSON. He
reports everything prosperous out in Cherokee.
John SAWVEL, of Waukon, landed Thursday with a standard bred
trotting stallion, Dr. Henry.

Albert FOSSUM and Miss Louisa FROSLIE were married at the
residence of the bride's parents in Paint Creek twp last
Wednesday.
David DIAL, of Waukon, died of heart disease on Feb 26th. He was
hauling ice all day and went to bed in apparent good health. His
wife was awakened during the night by his hard breathing and
found him unconscious. He died in about 5 minutes. He leaves a
wife and 3 children.
Miss Emily BROWNELL, daughter of Wm. BROWNELL of Waukon, and Dave
JEMISON were married Wednesday.
Mr. and Mrs. P. MILLER started their long journey to embark on
their ocean voyage to Germany, perhaps never to return to
America.
Miss Annie DODGE, of Newton and Mr. C.M. KERR, of Postville were
married in Newton on Feb 26th.

March 15, 1890
Elisha HARRIS has rented his farm here and will remain in Kansas
for the present. He has purchased a small farm there, but has
not, as yet taken a wife, as was reported he had done.
J.M. HARRIS moved into town two weeks ago, occupying the PRESCOTT
residence. He is in feeble health, but improving.
Miss Anna EASTON, instructor on the piano and organ.
Paul BRORBY is again at his post of duty after a few days
illness.
Mrs. S.F. CLINTON is visiting in LaCrosse for 2 weeks.
Mr. HOY has a new son and heir. J. PRESS has a daughter Mar. 6th.

DIED. At her home, near Cresco, Winneshiek co. Iowa, Mrs. Francis
EATON, aged about 29 years. Frances JEMISON, daughter of Mr. and
Mrs. David JEMISON was born in Allamakee co. Iowa and about 8
years ago married D.J. EATON. They lived in Allamakee co. until 3
years ago when they moved to Winnesheik co.
