Mrs. RECKER, of Forest Mills, is at Mrs. GLINES', having came here to undergo a surgical operation.

Mr. ALLEN has sold his residence and market garden to Mr. ZIEMAN, a German from Clayton county, for $1400.

Fred HAINES has the Hardin school again for the winter.

Miss Georgie PEARSON, of Hardin, leaves for Chamberlain, Dak., next Tuesday night to visit her sister, Mrs. D. CHURCH.

J.M. HARRIS having rented his farm at Waukon, would like to rent a house in Postville and move here.

Chas. HARRIS and Dave JEMISON returned from Chicago last Tuesday.

C.C. FABER is putting in a bay window.

Will THOMA had a large china wedding recently.

Mr. and Mrs. John ABEL have had their golden wedding anniversary.

Mrs. BOOTH, mother of H.E. BOOTH, died suddenly of heart disease, at Salt Lake, last week.

J.B. MINERT and J.P. RAYMOND, republican candidates for sheriff and superintendaent, were in town yesterday.

Two sisters of Dr. BROWN, Mrs. SHELL, of Sibley, Io and Mrs. Dr. CORY of Wisc. made a visit at the Dr.'s this week. The latter was a teacher at the Postville High school nearly 20 years ago.

John OEHRIG will occupy his splendid new residence on east Green street immediately.

Jas. RYAN, the democratic candidate for sheriff was over on Tuesday.
