Brown McWILLIAMS lost a horse with kidney difficulty.
Theodore DRAWES, who has been indisposed for a few days is out
again.
S.W. BOYNTON had a little siege of sickness.
Last week we received a letter from our old friend, J.W.
PATTERSON, but by some means it got lost before we had even read
it.
J.M. HARRIS and his little son went down to Dubuque last night.
Mrs. HARRIS is still there under treatment and was reported not
as well.
Andrew RASMUSON of Clermont was granted a patent on his invention
of a combined corn harvester & husker.
MARRIED.
At the residence of the bride's father, Mr. William H. DAWSON,
near Postville, on Jan 30th, by Rev. J.O. THRUSH, Miss Zelma
DAWSON to Mr. George W. ESTEY, of Frankville.
DIED.
Mamie, daughter of Alex and Rebecca McKINLEY of Clermont after a
lingering illness of 18 months, aged 20 years, 8 months and 29
days. Deceased was born and grew to womanhood in Clermont and was
held in the greatest respect and esteem by all of her numerous
acquaintances.
FRANKVILLE NEWS.
Geo. SHATTUCK lost one of his horses last week.
Miss Martha MURRAY is visiting her sister, at West Union.
A sister of Mrs. John BOLLMAN, Miss PRATT of Waukon, has been
spending a few days at her home.
Miss Viola CROTCER has been ill for some time, she is now out of
danger.
Mr. Edward PILGRIM and Myra L. daughter of Mr. James PECK, both
of Frankville, were married in Decorah on January 17th, 1889.

Obituary.
Mrs. James Fort died of dropsy at their farm residence two miles
north of Waukon Tuesday morning, at the age of 72 years 6 months
and 3 days. Her maiden name was Lucinda Smith, daughter of
Charles Smith, and was born in Belmont county, Ohio, Aug. 22d,
1816. In 1822 she moved with her parents to Henry county, Ind.,
where she was married to James Fort March 8th, 1832. Two children
blessed their union, Charles and Delilah, who survive her. She
united with the Crooked Creek, Ind., Baptist church in 1838. She
became a resident of this county in 1853. She was a kind hearted,
Christian woman, noble wife and mother. Her last words, addressed
to her granddaughter Ella Fort, were "Good night!" .
The funeral takes place at the residence at 2 p.m. today. Rev. D.
N. Mason officiating.

--T. B. Wiley, of Rossville, has been visiting Cerro Gordo
relatives.
--Mr. Schryver, of Algona, was visiting his aunt Mrs. J. G.
Ratcliffe last week.
--Dr. Mattoon and Martin Stone arrived from Lake de Fuinak, Fla.,
Friday evening.
--Charles Goeke went to Chippewa Falls, Wis., yesterday, called
there by the sickness of relatives.
--Mr. and Mrs. Stocks, of Aberdeen, Dak., were the guests of
Thomas Bullman's family during a portion of the past week.
--We acknowledge a very pleasant call Friday from Mr. Jas. H.
Trewin, of Lansing, successor to the legal business of Judge
Fellows.
--Frank Koontz and Charles Lathrop returned from the medical
college in Chicago Tuesday, having completed the junior year's
course.
--Mrs. G. W. Farnsworth and daughter Aliee arrived from River
Falls, Wis., Saturday for a visit with her daughter Mrs. G. L.
Hubbell.
--J. H. Williams is visiting Waukon friends this week. He has
sold out his interests at Elkader and will soon go down to his
Louisiana plantation.
--Mrs. V. H. Stevens came up from Waterville Friday evening to
visit with friends and more particularly with Mrs. S. J. Kenyon,
of New Hampton, and kindly assisted in the musical program at
Mrs. Alexander's that evening.
--J. G. Ratcliffe returned last week from a trip to Sioux Falls,
Omaha, and other western points. Next week he and Mrs. Ratcliffe
start on a four week's vacation visiting at Wheeling, West
Virginia, Washington, New York, and [my copy is cut off here.]
