Christ POESCH was formally instituted as clerk at F.W. ROBERTS' store last week.
Steve and Will SPOO returned home from Mammoth Hot Springs, Wy. Ty. last Saturday, to the surprise of all.
On Tuesday, a boy by the name of LARSON, 14 or 15 years old was drowned in the mill pond at Clermont.
Farm for sale 2 1/2 miles NE of Postville, 80 acres, good house and sheds for stock, running water and good land for corn. Ren. POWELL.
DEATH.
Mr. Peter GOODRICH, who resided near Myron, died last Friday after a brief illness. He was one of the early settlers of Iowa, having immigrated in 1850.
MARRIAGE.
News from Spokane Falls, Wash. Ty. announcing the marriage of Mr. A. CHRISTENSON and Miss Emma BOLLMAN. The bride is well known in this community (Frankville).

It is said that deer have been seen in the lower Yellow river timber. The first snow that comes the hunters will be thick down that way.
Ellison ORR has a new baby. Joe BEUCHER has added a boy, a boy at Charley HINMAN's and there is a girl at the residence of Asa CANDEE.
Geo. McWILLIAMS has a new device for dehorning cattle, or rather for holding them while they are being dehorned.

Mr. DELANEY, who had his team killed in the railroad wreck last week, settled with the company for $250.
Frank LARRABEE came up from McGregor on Christmas day ad went down to Clermont to eat turkey with his brother, the governor.
Section boss Pat O'BOY got severely hurt last week. He had a switch target on a hand car, which 6 men were pumping full speed, when the target poised over the side of the car and went off, the sharp edge striking him across the cheek, knocking out several teeth and sending him headlong a number of feet.
