Henry LUHMAN will leave the latter part of this week for his
boyhood home in Wisconsin where he will spend a week at the old
homestead.
H.R. LACHNER will hold a public sale of short-horn cattle at
Waukon, Sept. 17th, third day of the fair.
Paul BRORBY, with his mother, and the other children, occupy the
H.A. STOWE residence, west of the Methodist church.
MARRIED.
In Postville on Sept 8th, Mr. G.W. HIGBEY and Miss Susan A.
FEWELL. They will make their future home in Kansas.
At the residence of the bride's parents, Sept. 6th, Arthur F.
MARSTON to Jennie M. CARITHERS. They will soon be at home in
Postville.
DIED.
In Postvile, Sept. 7, little Al, youngest child of Mr. W.W. and
Mrs. M.E. HAINES, aged 6 months and 18 days.

The sorghum harvest has commenced. It ought to be a good crop
this year.
Jas. SHEPHERD writes from Iowa City to the effect that he is
pleased with the school and its surroundings.
James SHAW and family this week removed to Madison, Dakota, where
he has purchased property and will engage in the flour and feed
business.
J.H. SANDERS is building an upright to the building occupied by
H.S. LUHMAN on Tilden street.
I now offer my building and lot now occupied as a tailor shop and
residence for sale cheap. It is in a good location and suitable
for any business. For terms inquire on the premises of P.
DEITZLER.
Will LEUI has purchased the J.F. WILSON residence. [illegible] of
the most desirable locations. [illegible] and we congratulate
Will [illegible] But the question is, what is he going to do with
it?
Ed SHEEHY's old stand. Having leased this property, I am prepared
to furnish warm meals and lunches at all hours. I keep a full
supply of cigars, tobaccos and temperance drinks. Good stabling
for teams and good treatment to all. Charges reasonable. J.A.

OBITUARY.
Mrs. M.A. JAQUIS of Delphos, Kas., formerly of Waukon, Io., died
at the former place Sept. 19th, 1885, of inflamation of the
bowels. Was buried near Postville, Io., Sept. 22nd. Services by
Rev. McKIM.
MARRIED.
At the residence of the bride's parents on Tuesday, Sept. 22nd,
1885, Mr. Sampson A. HARRIS and Miss Ida E. SMITH. A goodly
number of the friends of the contracting parties were present and
a pleasant time was enjoyed.
