Postville Review
Postville, Allamakee, Iowa
October 31, 1885

Thanks to Mr. McMASTERS for the syrup and to Mrs. SANDERS for the milk to make those pumpkin pies!

J.M. TITUS, Volney, should have been credited with cash on subscription last week.

S.S. POWERS has an appointment to speak here on the political issues. Turn out and hear Democratic gospel.

Jas. CLARK, an old settler in Grand Meadow township, but recently a resident of Clermont, died suddenly on Wednesday.

The ladies of the Congregational Church will hold a Sociable at the residence of Mrs. Wm. CAMPBELL on Thursday.

Mr. and Mrs. Jacob LEUI gave a reception to Mr. and Mrs. Will LEUI at their residence in Grand Meadow township, on Wednesday evening. It was largely attended by the friends of the two families. The Band went down and furnished music. As our reporter could not go, we have no full report.

The following good list of subscribers (four of them new) are entitled to credit for subscription:
Mrs. J.G. SHERMAN, Fred SCHULTZ, B.F. BLASDEL, John ROLL, Geo. COON, A.A. MEAD, M.C. MEAD, Mrs. P.L. SMITH, W.F. SMITH, C.S. WARNER, W.A. OWEN, Mrs. W. EATON & John McGHEE.

List of letters unclaimed in the P.O.:
O.B. ALLEN, Geo. ALLINGHAM, M.W. CARPENTER, Julia FREDERICK, M.A. HUMPHREY, Wm. HANSON, Geo. KOUNZEL, H. MICKENHAM, Leophold MERZ (2), Annie SOLON, W.D. STANTORF & A.P. WEBSTER.

John ROLL returned to Colorada on Monday. John seems to be going along swimmingly out in the mountains, as besides a mine, a meat market and other substantials he has a wife and baby.

P.T. SMITH returned from his Kansas visit this week. He comes back with a slight touch of "Kansas fever" which may carry him off sometime in the future unless he recovers. He found his people all well and happy except for Mr. WARNER, whose health is not very good. He saw Frank TAYLOR at Topeka, where he was in attendance upon Grand Lodge of Odd Fellows, being a delegate from the Clearwater lodge. Frank is enthusiastic for Kansas and is doing well, as are all the former Postville people. John FINNEY is clerking in a store in Spearville.

MARRIED.
At the residence of the bride's parents, on Tuesday evening, Oct. 27th, 1885, by Rev. J.W. FERNER, Mr. Wm. LEUI and Miss Jennie ORR, both of Postville.
