HAWKINS, Woodland.
LOCAL ITEMS.
Last Monday we accepted an invitation to ride down to the home of
J.M. HARRIS and look over his new residence just completed. It
will be remembered that his house, with nearly all its contents,
was burned on the first day of July. His insurance was adjusted
and paid in 11 days and he immediately let the contract for a new
residence to Mr. BEEMAN, of Waukon, who has filled the bill to
the entire satisfaction of Mr. HARRIS. Is is indeed a fine
country residence, and there are few better, of its size, in town
or country. It is a two story frame, of the square pattern and
neatly and tastefully finished throughout., The inside graining
was done by W.W. WHEELOCK, of Decorah, and perhaps is the best ob
of graining inthe country. It was done in imitation of a job in
Waukon and Mr. HARRIS says there is $25.oo difference in favor of
his job. It is a fine piece of work in every respect. If any of
our people should want an extra job of graining done they would
do well to confer with Mr. WHEELOCK; as he guarentees to
duplicate the best work in the state. If we had such a residence
and such a farm as Mr. HARRIS has we would gladly turn over the Review
to some abler man and go to farming again.
