It is reported that the big saw mill at Lansing will be removed
to Winona.
M.V. KIDDER, of Decorah, has recently set up, for Mrs. O.A.
MAKEPEACE and family, the finest monument in the Postville
cemetery. It is Vermano granite and is a pretty design. Its cost,
including the foundation, was about $540 and is very cheap at the
price.
DIED.
At the residence of Mrs. Harvey EASTON, in Postville, Mrs.
Philena BUELL, aged 87 years. Mrs. BUELL was the mother of Mrs.
EASTON and had been inform for several years.
W. WHITTAKER, of Hardin, met with quite a serious accident last
Saturday, or rather his wife did. they were making a call at the
residence of W.H. BEAN, and when they started to leave the team
started suddenly throwing out Mrs. WHITTAKER and the child. She
struck the back of her head and shoulders, causing severe
injuries.

Jas. O'LAUGHLIN has moved to Ossian.
DIED.
In Postville, May 9th, 1884, of paralysis, Mr. J.O. WILCOX aged
about 49 years. The funeral was held from the Congregational
Church on Sunday afternoon under the spervision of the masonic
fraternity, of which Mr. WILCOX was a member. He leaves a wife
and four small children.

Jas. LAUGHLIN lost his barn and a lot of machinery by fire on
Friday last week.
The Ladies Aid Society will meet at Mrs. Archie HARMON's
Thursday.
Charles LEWIS, of Waukon was in town last week.
Mr. W.F. WARNER's children have nearly recovered from the
measles, but one, and he is improving.
MARRIED.
At the residence of Wm. MOTT, Postville on Tuesday May 20th,
1884, by Rev. H.E. WARNER, Mr. T.B. EASTON and Miss Addie SPARKS,
all of Postville. the couple will go to housekeeping next week in
their newly fitted up and furnished residence on Tilden street.

John FAIRCHILD sawed off the end of his finger on a circular saw
at the machine shop the other day.
Frank MAY, of the Waukon Standard force made this office a
call on Tuesday. He is headed to Mitchell, where he expects to
work for a while.
J.R. LAUGHLIN's property was insured in the Farmer's Mutual.

Otto MIKELSON has joined the Waukon drum corps.
E. HOPKINS, an old and respected citizen of McGregor, has died.
