It seems that a correspondent from Washington Prairie has taken
advantage of our lack of acquaintance in that section to palm off
on us and our readers a falsehood against a prominent man of that
section. We want the news from all sections but we want no
imaginary news, such as marriages tha have not occurred, etc.
[note: see the 9/8/1883 issue of the Review]
MARRIED.
At the residence of the brides parents, in Belvidere, Ill. Sept,
13th, 1883, by the Rev. J. COKEN, John DURNO to Miss Lucinda E.
ESTELL.
Fire at Hardin. On Thursday about 10 o'clock the store and
dewlling of E. HUGHES in Hardin was discovered to be on fire. Mr.
HUGHES was absent, Mrs. HUGHES and the children were alone.
Nothing could be saved from the residence part. The insurance was
$1,100, which of course does not cover the loss into several
hundred dollars.
Ed. SHEEHY is a happy Irishman again, owing to the arrival of a
new daughter.
Wm. McQUILLAN has been adjudged insane and taken to Independence.
