LOCAL ITEMS.
Arthur MARSTON and Albert STILES have shed their mustaches and we hardly know them.
One day last week Mr. Alf. ERNEST, living about 3 miles from here, toward Luana, while handling a revolver accidentally discharged it, receiving a cartridge just below the knee. Three days later Dr. BROWN, found and removed the ball. The wound though long and severe is doing well.

Walter CHRISS received from his folks in Norway, a large merchaum pipe, which had been in the family for over 200 years.
Andrew THOMPSON was in town looking for a house in which to move his family. We welcome them back.
Miss Nellie ABBOTT went West on the morning train Friday.

LOCAL ITEMS.
Miss Lizzie LAUGHLAN is visiting her friends in Postville
Mrs. J.G. OYLER, nee Gusta BOARDMAN, has been a guest of Mrs. HAZLETON.
Mrs. J.P. PRESCOTT, of Heron Lake, Minn, died last Sunday after a lingering illness. She was a sister of Mr. J.N. TOPLIFF and sister-in-law of postmaster PRESCOTT.
Mr. John DICKSON, of Franklin twp. has secured the appointment of mail agent on the route between Dubuque and LaCrosse.

LOCAL ITEMS.
Frank ROBERTS and family started for New Hampshire Monday where they will remain for some time, visiting early scenes, relatives and friends.
Jas. STEVENSON, of Waterloo, Iowa, a brother of Mrs. Z. POST, of this place, and an early settler in this county, is visiting relatives here this week.
Jacob BUCH has sold his stock and leased his store at Luana, and has taken possession of his hotel at Bridgewater D.T.
Henry DAYTON, Esq. and wife of Waukon were among the passengers Dakota bound on Monday.
Mrs. Sarah LASSEY, who has been sick for some time is out again.
