MARRIED. At the residence of the bride, at Lybrand, August 3d,
1881, by Rev. L.B. HIX, Mr. E.H. RIDENOUR, of California and Miss
Delilah A. HARRIS.
LOCAL ITEMS.
John MOIR went to McGregor. We see by the McGregor 'News' that he
is now the manager of Smith's museum.
D.W. ADAMS of Waukon was in today.
Father of Mrs. SPOO is visiting [illegible] and family.
Miss Hattie SCHOFIELD, of West Union is visiting with Miss Libbie
ROBERTS.
Loren POWERS has been in Dakota this week, looking after his
claims.
Mr. WEBSTER's fine residence is nearing completion.
Miss Addie SANDERS went up to Bonair last Monday to visit her
sister Mrs. LUHMAN.
Mrs. GORHAM, is in town, visitng with friends.
Johnny SHEEHY now occupies the position of clerk for Ed.
Bill HAINES has got a new seat on his spring dray.
Considerable grain has already been stacked in this locality. The
evenings and nights are very cool, and the days red hot. The
thermometer crawled up as high as 102 in the shade this week.
Mrs. A. THORNTON returned from her Nebraska trip last Wednesday.
Alf HUNT has been fulfilling his engagement at this place this
week.
Mr. SCHWARTZ is the name of the new operator at the B.C.R. &
N. depot.
Carl HOLTER returned from Dakota last Saturday. He reports a very
pleasant trip.
A brother of Andrew HANSON, the blacksmith, is visiting with him
this week.
A.A. CANFIELD left a lot of nice new apples in our sanctum the
other morning, for which he has our thanks.
Mr. C.B. McDONALD, of the Elkader 'Journal', made us a pleasant
little call last Monday morning. He was on his way to Dakota.
The young lady relatives of the ORR family, who have been visitng
there for some time, started for Cresco Thursday.
Our thanks are due A.P. WHITE for a basket of fine new apples.
Miss Ella BARCLAY is visiting with Miss Nellie ABBOT, this week.
John T. CLARK, in his new quarters, has a neat and pleasant
office.
J.H. KELLER and family were down from Ossian, for a short time
Tuesday evening.
Mr. and Mrs. John B. HART spent a few days in town, with their
parents, this week.
Iowa climate seems to agree with Joe GRAY. He is getting fat,
fatter, fatterest, and all the rest.
A barrel of pork accidentally fell on one of Hulver LIEN's
fingers the other day, and as a result it is a little sore.
Judge GRANGER took the 9:30 A.M. train for the west Tuesday, with
dog and gun, which reminded us that the chicken season was near
at hand.

Last Wednesday Elisha HARRIS was bitten by a rattlesnake on one
of his arms. He immediately camt to town and found Dr. GREEN,
under whose care he is doing fine. The arm was badly swollen and
had it not been promptly tended to, it doubless would have been
very bad.

Mr. CULIE received his back pension recently and has purchased
the CHASE property, near the M.E. Church.
Leander GEORGE of Castalia has been arrested for passing
counterfit silver coins.
