Died
HOYT. - Mrs. Juliette HOYT, wife of H. B. HOYT, died at her home
in West Union [Fayette co.], Tuesday morning, March 30th, of
pneumonia, after an illness of two weeks. .........Mrs. Hoyt was
born in South Hero, Vt., Sept 7, 1832, where she was married in
February 1854, coming to this county in April thereafter. She was
a sister of Mrs. J. L. PAINE, Mrs. Winslow STEARNS and Mr. Wm.
KENT.

Mrs. J.P. Calvin, of Clermont, died last week.
Rev. C.P. Mead, of Castalia, called on Monday.
Lawler street has been improved by putting down some two-inch
plank sidewalk.
There will be a spelling match at the school house in Postville
on Monday, April 27.
Since we have been in Postville several people have taken us for
Dr. Brown. We can stand it but it is rather hard on the doctor.
W.S.D. Smith, who for some time past has been reading law with
S.S. Powers, has gone into the directory business with Mr.
McCormack.
J.N. Leithold, who has been express agent here for eight years
and a half, has resigned the position on account of the
accumulation of other business, and the office has been
transfered to the depot.
Married. Simpson-Fulsom. At the residence of Wm. Simpson, April
18, by Rev. C.P. Mead, Mr. Wm. Simpson and Mrs. Sarah Jane
Fulsom.

Died
STILES. - In Postville on Sunday, April 25th, Mrs. Hannah STILES,
in the 63d year of her age. Mrs. Stiles was born in Tompkins Co.
N. Y. November 9th, 1812. She was married to Timothy STILES in
Dec 1834, Steuben Co. N. Y., removed to Alleghany Co. in 1837,
and from thence to Postville in 1855, arriving here April 25th,
just 20 years prior to the day of her death.
