-On the 10th inst., by Rev. Father McGowan, Mr. Joseph Haws, to Miss Bridget Tracy. Ah, now we know why all that fixing up over at your house was for. We always knew you was a sensible fellow, and now we have prima facie evidence of it. May the time soon come, my boy, when you can take the little ones on your knee and sing o them the songs you used to render to us in the army. Joy, weath, peace, pleasure, long life and happiness to you and yours.

Dubuque has had a fashionable wedding. The elite of the city were in attendance and rich bridal presents were lavishly bestowed. The name of the ebony gentleman is Joseph Moward; the bride was Miss Mary A. Morse of Galena.

More population.
Pretty little girl in town. Ed Purdy is father. ?.W. Purdy and wife are grandpa and grandma. George Purdy is uncle. Wm. Purdy ditto. Charley Purdy ditto. Have a right to be proud, here's luck.

The Worth Brothers of DeSoto [WI], have purchased the old mill there and are going into business on a large scale. They know how to "push things" A new flouring mill will soon be in running order. That is something DeSoto has long needed and we anticipate plenty of business for it.

The 'Mollie Mohler', a trim little stern wheel craft of the White Collar Line, has been put on as a daily packet between this city and Prairie du Chien. McDonald is Captain and Geo Walrath pilot. The 'Mollie' became quite a popular boat while in the same trade last fall. She will probably find plenty of business here all the season.

New Doctor.
Dr. Obereder, late of New York, has located in this city. He occupies Dr. Brunner's old office in the Hufschmidt block He comes with the strongest recommendations.

Frank Sencebaugh, a good, sort of pilgrim from Rossville, ahs been staying in our city, for the past few days, having lots of fun, hunting pigeons, laughting at Dr. Nachtwey's jokes, &c. Frank is a good soul and behaves himself unusually well.

The Ella.
The 'Ella' continues to make her regular trips between Lansing and Prairie du Chien, carrying away immense quantities of wheat. Capt. Miller is a favorite among our citizens, and many of them are determined to give him all the business they can. He ought to have it, for he is obliging and seeks to favor shippers as well as himself.

Enlarged.
Our old printer chum, Mr. A.B. Marshal, has enlarged his Montgomery County Express to an eight column paper. Aaron, we like your paper. May you make a fortune out of it, Old boy, is our wish.

Lead Ore.
Sam Hemenway and Doc Ranney have discovered a large quanitity of surface mineral, near this city. They think there is plenty of it in the bowels of mother earth near the spot where they made their discovery.

Mr. R.R. Hall, recently with Mr. Doe, has returned to this city. He looks almost like a mere shadow, having been suffering intensely for the past few weeks with inflammatory rheumatism. We hope to see him all right again in a few days.

A smart Davenporter has invented a cure for snoring - patent applied for. It consists of a gutta percha tube with two trumpet shaped ends; one goes over the nose, the other embraces the ear; ass soon as the sleeper commences snoring he hears the row and wakes up.

Iowa wheat is gettng its name up. Some three months since the merchants of Liverpool ordered 300,000 bushels of best amber Iowa, and now comes an order from Bracelona, Spain, for 100,000 bushels of the same kind. The Spaniards and Liverpoolers know where to get "good wheat". Iowa can pancake and corndodger all Europe in ten days.

Geo. Bryant, of the wholesale and retail boot & shoe house of Bryant & Thorp, returned yesterday from a prolonged visit to the eastern cities in search of a new stock. We venture the assertion that their establishment now contains as fine a stock of goods in their line as there is in Iowa. George comes back looking as fresh and healthy as a new plown [illegible]
