Preservation Workshop at the Library Nov. 13

On Saturday, November 13, from 10 a.m. until noon, Craig Wright, Archivist with the Herbert Hoover Presidential Museum and Library, offered a workshop, “Preserving Family Memories and Historical Records,” at the Marengo Public Library. This workshop provides tips on how to organize and care for paper records, photographs, and other audio-visual material such as video tapes and home movies. Practical advice and handouts on archival supplies, scrapbooking, and photo albums will help not only those wishing to preserve their family history, but also genealogists, local historians, and people caring for their church or organizational records. Please come with questions and bring any items for which you would like advice.

Wright has been an archivist for 21 years, helping to preserve the history and stories of Iowa, Minnesota, and Michigan. Since 2004, he has been working at the Herbert Hoover Presidential Library and Museum, with a special emphasis on creating digital tools to make historical materials available over the internet. Wright is an expert in the area of preservation and has held workshops on preserving family memories and historical records throughout the Midwest.
