Condition;
This cemetery has been considered abandoned. Nothing much is
done. hickory trees were growing up, and these have been sort
of cleaned out. The old shed on the corner was removed, and
the gate is fixed off and on. Cattle could get in, with the
fence in the condition it is in, but they do not put cattle
in there now (1975). Many descendants could come and clean
it up if they would.

A good crop of poison ivy here each year. It has been in the
cemetery for many years, as a grandson of Friedrick Karsten who
died in 1890 and wife Katharine, who died in 1921, told me that
Katharine his grandmother did not like to go there because of
the poison.

Remarks
Little hope of anything better as trustees have no intention of
recondition-ing it, or descendants to spend time cleaning or
fixing up stones. I copied it in 1962, and it was little
different than 1975: When I first copied it, a grave or two
had been moved, but I understood, it was one that had been
there only a short time.
                            Material previous copied came from
                                   the original sec. books.
Researched by Pauline Lillie

Additional: Under the supervision of the Board of Supervisors who
in 1977 restored this cemetery, with the aid of youth project:-To-
day is in fine shape: Thanks to Ed. Shima Chairman-Bernard Elwood
and Leonard Thys- Iowa County Supervisors- goes the credit.
