A & P Creamery
(experimental creamery) on 1st St, Ida Grove
Cream was picked up at the farmer's yard by the A & P drivers in cream cans.
 It was tested at the creamery for butter content.
The farmers were paid with cash in little brown envelopes.
Butter was made from the cream, in big vats.

 

Conn Brothers. Hospital opened, Jan 1906.
Sold 1922 to become a hotel.

 

Before 1916, Ida Grove, West 2nd St., Downtown
In 1899, Iowa Telephone Co. was given permission to erect and maintain telephone lines in Ida Grove.  The crosswalks in the picture are wooden boards.
The Crosswalks were wooden boards first & then later concrete walks.  In 1916, the city voted to have the blocks removed for city paving.
Later the original cross walks of cement were laid as a walk to the Ida Grove cemetery.

"Long Bridge"

On west end of Ida Grove.

The west access to Ida Grove in the days of dirt roads and dirt streets, before1920s. The road came off of Highway 175.
