Married at the home of the groom’s parents, four miles north of Ida Grove, Mr. Manning Nissen to Miss Mary Lange.  Rev. C.E. Schroder officiating.

We record in this issue the death of Emily Smith which occurred November 9th.  The news reached us in the midst of the celebrations here that evening while whistles were blowing and bands playing and fireworks shooting. We sympathize with the bereaved ones who held watch in the dimly lighted room where slept the little bud so suddenly clipped from the parent tree. 

 

December 13,1888 Pioneer

Married, Fred Jensen, the leading jeweler of Correctionville, stole of to Ida Grove and married Kirstine Madsen, Rev. Hermann performing the marriage.   Fred is a fine young man and has been working for John Miler at Correctionville for some time in the jewelry business.

Married Chas. W. Burrow and Emma Wruck, at Battle Creek on the 6th.   Rev. Hermann officiated.

Married in Grant twp. on the 4th, Julius Ehler and Miss Emily Kruger.

Born on the 3rd to the wife of Mr. Hermann, the German Lutheran minister, a boy.  May the little boy live to be a blessing to those who love him.

 

December 20,1888 Pioneer

Wm. S. McVey of Charter Oak, Iowa and Miss Jennie Davis of Williamsburg, Iowa were married at the home of the bride’s sister, Mrs. A. B. Ogden, December 20th at Williamsburg.  Mr. and Mrs. McVey are well known to the people of Ida Grove.  For many years both were prominent teachers in the county.

Mr. and Mrs. Wm Whitfield celebrated their silver wedding anniversary on December 15th.

Married on December 25,1888, at the residence of the bride’s parents, by Rev. A.E. Smith, Mr. W. O. Griffin and Miss Annetta J. Condit, all of Ida Grove.

Mr. W.O. Griffin, the groom is a worthy young man.  He is one of the most enterprising business men and the owner of the wagon shop, near the steam mill.
