Ry., and on the Maple river, in Maple township, Ida county, 7 miles s. w. of Ida Grove, the judicial seat, and 146 n. w. of Des Moines. It is surrounded by an excellent farming section and has German Lutheran, Methodist and Presbyterian churches, a graded public school, 2 banks and a weekly newspaper, the Battle Creek Times. IDA GROVE. Population, 1,874. An incorporated city, located on the C. & N. W. Ry., in Ida county, of which it is the judicial seat. 150 miles northwest of Des Moines, and 80 miles southeast of Sioux City. Ida Grove is the trade center for one of the richest agricultural and stock raising sections of the state. It has churches of the Catholic, Church of God. Lutheran, Methodist and Presbyterian denominations, good schools, fire department, opera house, 3 banks, 2 flouring mills, a cigar factory, a handsome court house, elevators, electric, light plant, and 2 weekly newspapers, the Ida County Pioneer and the Record Era.
