   What's New!

  • February 24, 2010. Part seven of "A Day With Dr. Brooks", authored by Mary E. Dodge has been added to the Orphan Train, IAGenWeb Special Project pages. This article tells the story of the The New York Juvenile Asylum. The article was published in the December, 1870 issue of Scribner's Magazine. The article begins at http://iagenweb.org/iaorphans/resources/brooks.shtml. Opened in 1851, The New York Juvenile Asylum later merged with the Children's Village in Dobbs Ferry, N.Y. Many of the children that were housed there became the riders of the Orphan Trains to IA. I hope you all enjoy this historical, heart wrenching story of very special children in Iowa's history.
