| CAMPBELL, Arthur | My Great-grandfather was Arthur Campbell. He married Rachel Hughes in Toledo in about 1896. I Found a US Census 1880 listing an Arthur Campbell living as a Bound Boy with the John Life Household (Geneseo,Tama,Iowa). I am trying to find out more about Arthur but have no living relatives who know anything about him. Do you know where that I can flesh out some more information. Your help is appreciated, Michael Purvis |

| CORONO, Rosalia | My Grandmother, Rosalia Corono was born on September 10, 1907 and taken to the New York Foundling Hospital on September 17, 1907. My Grandmother was placed on an Orphan Train and on May 21, 1909 arrived in Houston Texas to be placed with Henry & Valerie Snyder. My mother always thought they were Czech and Irish. Due to writing the New York Foundling Home we discovered we have discovered that my Grandmother was Italian. On the linen clothe her name was spelled Rosalia Caren or Caron, and the records at the orphanage showed Corono. I am interested in finding out more information about my Grandmother and her medical history. Thanks!! Annette Troseth |
| CONRAD, Bert (or Burt) | My Great Grandfater was orphaned in New York and was sent on a train (Illinois Central) to Storm Lake, Iowa sometime between 1885 and 1900. SSN records show he was born 16 August, 1885, his name was Bert (or Burt) Conrad and he was taken in by the McGarry family of Storm Lake (apparently for farm labor, slept in the barn.) I was told by my mother that as a teenager he traveled throughout the west with a thrashing outfit working the wheat harvests. The earliest record I can find of him is back in Iowa on the 1910 census at 24 years old. At this point he had a farm south of Rembrandt in the Smith Township. I am interested in finding records of his arrival as a child in Storm Lake and hopefully the name of the orphanage and agent that brought him there. Dean Olson |

| MAHAGAN, Margaret TD> | My great-grandmother Margaret Mahagan was born in Boston, MA on 15 Dec 1876. Both of her parents are believed to have been born in Ireland. She reportedly came west on an Orphan Train when she was approximately 6 years old. She was taken in by a family who lived south of Akron, Iowa [Plymouth, Co]. There was one other child taken in by the same family, name unknown. The family was suppose to adopted both children but never did. After Margaret completed her obligation to the family, she moved to Elk Point, Union Co., SD. There she met and married my great- grandfather, Albert Harley Simons, on 28 Sept 1898. Their first daughter, Clara Mae (my grandmother), was born on 4 May 1900. Their second daughter, Fern Loretta, was born 27 Sept 1906. Fern Loretta died on 9 Jan 1919 of the flu. Albert died in 1957, however, Margaret lived to the age of 99, passing away in a nursing home in Akron, IA on 11 Feb 1976. Grandpa Simons' parents, Joseph and Mary Caroline Simons, also lived in Elk Point, SD for many years. I am looking for information regarding the family who raised Margaret. Ronald S. Mackey |
| MCNUTT, Nellie | I am looking for information relating to my grandmother. Her birth name is believed to be Nellie McNutt. Birth date October 31, 1882. Birth Place - New York State. Supposedly rode an orphan train to Iowa. Was adopted by a family named McBride. I believe they resided around Postville, Iowa. Married a Delmer Rounds year unknown, perhaps between 1910-1915. They later moved to South Dakota. I have also been told the orphanage she lived in in New York burnt and records were distroyed. I have very little for sure information, but hope you can give me some pointers. Kathy Aughenbaugh |
| MILLER, Melvin | My Father’s Sister, Olive (Archer) Miller lived in Albia [Monroe] Iowa. Sometime in the 1920’s or 1930’s her husband and she adopted a boy they called Melvin. In looking through old photos my father had, I found one of a boy of about 8 or 9 with a suitcase in his hand standing on a train platform. Is there any way to trace whether this boy who I suspect is Melvin would have been an Orphan Train child? This is a matter of my interest in my family history on my father’s side. Any help would be appreciated. John Archer |

| STEWART, William Robertson | My grandfather and both of his brothers came to Iowa on the orphan trains. My grandfather, William Robertson Stewart was adopted by the Jacob Shawd family in Bayard, IA. His brother, Hector Stewart, was taken in by the nearby Otis Carrick family, cousins of the Shawds. A younger brother (Charles) came out around 5 years later and also taken in by the Jacob Shawd family. All three sons stayed in Iowa, as far as I can tell. William was a long-time resident of Sheldon, Hector was in the Des Moines area, and Charles shows up in the 1930 census in Emmetsburg with his wife, Norma. When Hector passed away in 1953, older brother William brought his younger brother to Sheldon to bury him. They are both buried in East Lawn Cemetery in Sheldon. All three boys were born in NYC to William Hector Stewart and Lizzie Robertson Stewart. Thank you. Diane Tavoian Diane Tavoian |
| TWOMBLEY, Emily J. | Mass., born abt. 1847, age 12 in 1860 U. S.Census, listed on my 4th great grandmother, Martha Platt in Colesburg, Iowa [Delaware Co]. She married George Wiltse, a farmer, and it is listed on the 1870 U. S. Census in Iowa. I believe I might have found a brother George living on another farm close by with a family by the name of Miller, but I am not sure they were related. Sharon Cikanek |
| VON DORRON , Lulu | Lulu is my husband's great-great Grandmother. Her late-produced birth certificate lists November 1, 1880, in New York City. At age 6, Lulu's mother died in childbirth and her step-father (Van Dermain) was unable to care for four children (Anna, James, Lulu, and William Van Dermain) or deceased w/in short time. Lulu was sent to The New York Foundling Hospital. She wrote her story, describing her year at the "orphanage" and the "train ride" that took her, at age 7, and many children to new homes. She was taken in (? adopted) by the Winters family of Lawler, IA. A form letter from Sister Teresa Vincent to the Winters dated 4/26/1901 asks how "Agnes" is getting along and for annual updates on her progress, so a name change may have occurred or Lulu was an established nickname or perhaps an error. At age 16, Lulu married Michael J. Mrachek of Lawler and they relocated to Washington. They had 10 children. She died at age 92 on November 3, 1972. Any help tracing the family is appreciated.Cathy Meuret |

Any information on Emmanuel Wagner Godier would be appreciated. We are wanting to locate some of the Wagner family if possible. Contact jimbo71@oregontrail.net |
