My grandmother Lena Sullivan and her brother Edward Sullivan came to West Union on the Orphan Train. Their mother had TB and was in a hospital in New York. They came from the N.Y. Childrens Foundling Home. My grandmother used to tell me about it. The family that took her did not want to take her brother who was a couple years older, but it was a package deal. Her brother wasn't treated very well and eventually left out on his own. My Grandmother married Andrew Sullivan and eventually had 10 children. She lived in the West Union, Iowa area all her life. I do have some letters from Mr. Reimer of the NY Foundling Home. The children were never adopted legally just lived with the Michael Hershinger family of Iowa. Sue Doland
