Henry Anderson

Residence: lived in Hardy, Iowa.

 

Lars Anderson

Civil War: Private.

Residence: Humboldt County, Iowa.

 

Halbert Harvey

Wisconsin 37th Infantry Company K.

Residence: Highland Township, Iowa County, Wisconsin.

Born “Haldor Narvesen Grønvold” on 30 Dec 1828 in Sigdal, Buskerud, Norway, son of Narve Haakonson Grønvold (Grønhovd) and Gunhild Haldorsdatter Vad. Arrived in Wisconsin in 1849. Lived in Highland Township, northwest of Dodgeville. He was married on 24 May 1857 to Ragnhild Andersdatter Støa (1837-1867).

Civil War: Farmer. Age 36. Married. Blue eyes, brown hair, light complexion, 5’7”. Drafted. Enrolled for one year on 28 Oct 1864 at Highland, Wisconsin. Mustered the same day. Private. Survived the war. Post war: He married on 12 Mar 1868, Marit Andersdatter Skredderhuset (1845-1930).

Post War:  In 1875, they moved to Lake Township, Humboldt County. Iowa. He died 14 Jan 1892 and is buried in East Ullensvang Lutheran Cemetery in Humboldt County.

Ole Hogensen

Died in Humboldt County, Iowa, in 1896.

 

A. Nelson

 From Stavanger, Norway.

Civil War: Private. Wounded.

 Post war: Lived at Thor, Iowa.

 Andrew Nelson

From Olen, Norway.

Civil War: Private.

Post war: Died in Humboldt County, Iowa (before 1907).

Christian Rossing

From Lands Prestegjeld, Norway.

Civil War: Corporal.

Post war: In 1907, he was living in Bode, Iowa.

 

T. A. Rossing

Wisconsin 15th Infantry Company E.

Residence: Wiota, Lafayette County, Wisconsin.

Born at the Rossing farm, Land Parish, in Norway, in 1840. Came to America with his parents in 1857. His father, Andreas Olson, started a farm. Torkild, however, worked for other farmers. For a couple years before the war, he attended a school in Warren, Illinois.

Civil War: Age 22. Unmarried. Torkild Rossing enlisted for three years on 4 Oct 1861 at Wiota. Mustered on 11 Dec 1861 at Madison, Wisconsin. Designated a Sergeant. Promoted to Sergeant Major on 1 Jul 1862, and transferred to the Regiment's Non-commissioned staff. Commissioned First Lieutenant at Murfreesboro, Tennessee, on 16 Jan 1863 with rank from 3 Sep 1862. Detached on recruiting service 18 Dec 1863. Promoted to Captain at Powers Ferry, Georgia, and given command of Company E on 1 May 1864, with rank from 7 April, to succeed Captain Henry Hauff, who had been killed in action.

Honorably discharged from the service at Chattanooga, Tennessee, on 20 Dec 1864. Post war: He lived in Argyle, Wisconsin. Later moved to Lotts Creek, Iowa, where he was a farmer. In 1886, he was living in Bode, Iowa. He died there in 1893.

Andrew O. Skildum

From Sogn, Norway.

Civil War: Private.

Post war: Died in Humboldt County, Iowa, in 1882;

drowned while crossing a river. Buried in Bode, Iowa.

 

Thom P. Thompson

Civil War: Private.

Residence: at Thor, Iowa.
