Humboldt County Boy Reported Killed.

Lewis W. Gerring, Said to Live near Rutland, Killed in France.

Tuesdays dailies brought in the list of killed in France, the name of Lewis Gerring, of near Rutland.  Inquiry fails to locate any knowledge of the party, and it must be someone who has acquaintances at Rutland and gave the town as his residence in preference to somewhere where he is better known.

Mourned as Dead, Soldier is Reported Wounded.

Matt. A. Madsen of Renwick, was reported as missing on the western front, and was mourned as dead.  Now comes a government report that he is in a hospital wounded, and his folks at Renwick are taking heart.  To be wounded is much better than to be in a German prison camp.
