Humboldt Republican, Humboldt, Iowa.  "Patriotic organizations of Humboldt will honor Charles Lingenfelter of Dakota City on his 100th birthday, Sunday, October 5.  The only surviving Civil War veteran in Humboldt county, Mr. Lingenfelter is in good health and lives with his daughter, Mrs. (Mary) Watson Schick.

The program will be held at the Schech home about 2:30, Rev. W. Clark Williams of the First Congregational Church will speak briefly, and other numbers are being prepared.  The program honoring Mr. Lingenfelter is open to the public." 

Charles Henry Lingenfelter was born in Amsterdam, New York, in 1841, and he died in Dakota City, May 11, 1945.  He served in Company "D" 23rd Wisconsin Infantry from January of 1864 through May, 1865.
