FREDERICKSBURG - Everest W. Steege, 92, Fredericksburg, died Saturday, Oct. 5, 2002 at Community Memorial Hospital, Sumner of natural causes.

Funeral Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 9 a t Chenoweth and Son Funeral Home, Fredericksburg.

Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery, Fredericksburg.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home on Tuesday, the casket will not be open.

Everett was born Sept. 11, 1910 in Chickasaw County, the son of Theodore and Elizabeth (Mohling) Steege. He received his education in rural schools. He married Mata Landau Feb. 26, 1935 in Fredericksburg. He farmed and bred Belgian horses for 75 years.

Survivors include his wife Mata; two sons, Max (Barbara) Steege, Swisher and Evan (Roselle) Steege, Deer Creek, MN; two daughters, JoAnn (Warren) Reiser, Bel-mond, WI and Mary (Robert) Klemp, Fredericksburg; one brother, Theodore Steege II, Fredericksburg; two sisters, Ella Nelson, Fredericksburg and Olinda Weidler, Colorado; 15 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren and three great great-grandchildren.

Preceding him in death were two brothers, Laurence Steege and John Steege; a sister, Leonore Dresch, a son-in-law, William Sassman; a grandson, Carl Steege and a great-grandson, Jared Schultz.

Memorials may be directed to the family.
