FREDERICKSBURG -- Helen Pearl Shawver, 88, Waterloo, formerly of Fredericksburg, died Wednesday, June 5, 2002 at her home in Friendship Village in Waterloo of natural causes.

Funeral Services were 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 8 at the United Methodist Church, Fredericksburg.

Burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery, Fredericksburg.

Visitation was from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, June 7 at Chenoweth and Son Funeral Home, Fredericksburg. Further visitation was held one hour before time of service at the church on Saturday.

Helen was born April 14, 1914 in Lindon, CO, the daughter of John and Ruth. (Heckart) Wilson. She graduated from Ottumwa High School in 1931, Ottumwa Heights College in 1933 and Upper Iowa in 1967. She married George Shawver on Feb. 13, 1937 in Lancaster, MO. She taught school for 42 years, retiring from Fredericksburg Junior High School in 1978.

Survivors include two sons, Gary (Pam), Waterloo and Marvin (Evelyn) LeClair; one daughter, Jan (Tom) Rowe, Freeport, IL; one sister, Rosa McElroy, Mesa, AZ; ten grandchildren and 'three great-grandchildren.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, George, on June 6, 2001; a stepmother, Lydia (Nelson) Wilson and a brother in infancy.
