NEW HAMPTON - Bernice Shaw, 95, New Hampton, died Tuesday, June 4, 2002 at her home of cancer.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Saturday, June 8 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, New Hampton with Reverend Carl Schmitt presiding.

Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, New Hampton with Gilbert Gerleman, Gary Douglas, Glen Rosonke, Quentin Brus and David Leichtman serving as casket bearers. Honorary casket bearers will be the members of the Las Amegas Club.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, June 7 at Conway-Kolbet Funeral Home, New Hampton where there will be a 7:30 p.m. Rosary followed by a Scripture Service. Visitation will also be an hour prior to services at the church.

Bernice K. Shaw was born July 24, 1906,in Clinton, the daughter of Thomas and Sarah (Doud) Kennedy. Shortly after her birth, the family moved to a farm near New Hampton. She graduated from New Hampton High School in 1925. After graduating, she worked on the family farm and later moved to San Francisco in the mid 30's to work as a nanny. While in San .Francisco, Bernice met Jack Shaw and the couple later married in New York. Following their marriage, the couple resided in New Hampton, but spent much of their time traveling as her husband was in show business. In 1960 Bernice began farming on her own near New Hampton. She remained very active until a few months prior to her death. Bernice was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church and the Las Amegas Club. She enjoyed her home, flowers, yard and family.

Survivors include a daughter, Malee (Jerry) Rosonke, Mansfield, SD; a son, Maurice (Peggy) Shaw, Coronado, CA; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and two sisters, Ruth Kennedy, New Hampton and Marie Leonard, Lawler.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Jack and a sister, Alice Stark.

In lieu of flowers Memorials may be directed to Hospice of North Iowa.
