ST. LUCAS -- Joseph Leo Mihm, 48, St. Lucas, died Wednesday, Aug. 28, 2002 at Gunderson Lutheran Medical Center, LaCrosse, W1 after a brief illness.

A Mass of Christian Burial was 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 2 at St. Lukes Catholic Church, St. Lucas with Rev. Marvin Salz celebrating the mass. The pall was placed on the casket by his brothers and sisters. Lectors for the service were Ken Mihm and Danielle Mihm. Eucharistic ministers were Ken and Bob Mihm.

Interment was in St. Lukes Cemetery, St. Lucas with Tim Bakula, Scott Bakula, Chris Mihm, A1 Schmitt, Randy Schmitt and Jerry Dietzenbach as pallbearers. Visitation was from 3-8 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 1 at St. Lukes Chapel, St. Lucas, where there was a 4 p.m. combined Rosary Society and Catholic Order of Foresters Rosary and a 7 p.m. Scripture Service.

Hugeback Funeral Home, New Hampton was in charge of arrangements.

Joseph Leo Mihm was born March 25, 1954 in West Union, the son of Linus and Freida (Bodensteiner) Mihm. He was baptized April 1, 1954 at St. Lukes Parish, St. Lucas. He attended St. Lukes School and graduated from Turkey Valley High School in 1972. He then attended Area 1 in the Ag Program and after graduation began farming with his father. Joe enjoyed all sports and participated in softball and bowling. He was a member of St. Lukes Parish and the Catholic Order of Foresters.

Survivors include his parents; three brothers, Ken Mihm, Decorah, Jim (Marilyn) Mihm, Waucoma and Bob Mihm, St. Lucas; three sisters, Jean (Leo) Bakula, New Hampton, Cindy Pietan, Lime Springs and Kathy Resewehr, Cedar Rapids; eight nieces and five . nephews.

Preceding him in death were his grandparents, Louis and Theresa (Bruess) Mihm and Carl and Johanna (Rausch) Bodensteiner.
