McCracken, Robert A. 1928 - 2002

FREDERICKSBURG - Robert A. McCracken, 73, Fredericksburg, died Tuesday, Sept. 24, 2002 at Covenant Medical Center, Waterloo of natural causes.

Funeral Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 28 at United Methodist Church, Fredericksburg with Reverend Rose Marie Calderon-Khan officiating. Gail Allison will be the organist and accompany herself singing "Amazing Grace" and those in attendance singing "Standing On The Promises".

Burial will be in New Hampton Cemetery'with Dennis Bockhaus, Perry Bockhaus, John Rewoldt, Dr. Andrew Smith, Donald Pett and Andrew Pett serving as casket bearers.

Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 27 a t Conway-Kolbet Funeral Home, New Hampton and an hour prior to services at the church on Saturday.

Robert A. McCracken was born Oct. 27,1928 in Chickasaw County, the son of Robert and Lydia (Alcock) McCracken and was baptized and confirmed a t Williamstown United Methodist Church. He was a 1946 graduate of New Hampton High School. After his schooling he farmed for his father near Fredericksburg. He served two terms in the Iowa House of Representatives. On Aug. 18, 1968, he was united in marriage to Barbara Bockhaus at St. John's Lutheran Church Western Douglas. Following their marriage the couple farmed near Fredericksburg. The couple moved to Fredericksburg in 1976 and Robert continued farming until his retirement. He was an active member of United Methodist Church,

Fredericksburg and was a member of the Fredericksburg Lions Club, a 50-year member of the Masonic Lodge, a past REC board member and past Rotary member.

Survivors include his wife, Barbara, Fredericksburg; two daughters, Jane (Alexander) Murray, San Marcos, CA and Sarah (Matthew) Tro-meter, Wichita, KS; two granddaughters and a brother, Thomas G. McCracken, St. Charles, IL.

Preceding him in death were his parents.
