Lysing, Mervin N. 1915 - 2002

Funeral services for Mervin Lysing were held at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 8 at Grace Church in Edina.

Mervin Norris Lysing was born January 12, 1915 in Hitterdal, MN, the son of Gustav and Elizabeth Lysing. He received his B.A. degree in 1937 from Moorhead State College, Moorhead, MN.

In July 1940 he married Lois Jeske.

He served as a Lieutenant in the Navy for three years aboard U.S.S. Pocomoke.

He played a short time with the Lawrence Welk Orchestra and was an accompanist for Peggy Lee. He was Director of Marching and Concert Bands at St. Louis Park, MN, and directed bands in Cresco for 12 years before that.

He is survived by his wife Lois; one daughter: Susan Hickok; one son: Michael; three grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; four sisters: Estelle Sather, Grace Stordahl, Alice Keuhnel, Norma Sannes; and one brother: Grant.

Mervin was preceded in death by his parents; and six of his brothers and sisters.
