FREDERICKSBURG -- Esther B. Lange, 87, died Monday, March 4, 2002 at the Sunrise Guest Home in Fredericksburg of natural causes.

Funeral services were held Thursday, March 7 at 10:30 a.m. at the Hillcrest Baptist and Brethren Church in Fredericksburg.

Burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery, Fredericksburg.

Visitation was 3-7 p.m. Wednesday, March 6 at Chenoweth & Son Funeral Home in Fredericksburg.

Esther Blanche Lange was born Aug. 31, 1914 at Ansley, NE, the daughter of Robert J. and Minnie (Clingerman) Coen. She attended school in Ansley, NE and Charles City, IA, graduating in 1932 from Charles City High School. She married Lester Walter Lange at the Lutheran parsonage in Charles City on Aug. 12, 1936. She taught country school for three years, worked at the Black & White Cafe for two years, and then was employed as a secretary at Ott & Forsman Produce in Fredericksburg for 40-1/2 years, retiring in 1982. Esther was a member of the Hillcrest Baptist and Brethren Church where she served as secretary/treasurer and taught Sunday School for several years.

Survivors include a daughter, Jane (William) Miller, Brandon, SD; two grandchildren; three sisters, Gloria (Mack) Johannaber and Lulu Buis, Fredericksburg, Janice Theilen, Nashua; two brothers, Paul Coen, Evansdale and Galen Max Coen, Fredericksburg.

Preceding her in death were her husband, Lester on Nov. 4, 1969; her parents; two brothers, Clyde and Robert Dean Coen; a sister, Vivian Coen.
