LONE TREE - Walter F. Krueger, 87, Lone Tree, died Wednesday, June 5, 2002 a t Mercy Hospital, Iowa City following a sudden illness.

Funeral Services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, June 7 a t United Presbyterian Church, Lone Tree with Rev. Ann Rouse officiating.

Burial will be in Lone Tree Cemetery with grandchildren as casket bearers.

Visitation was held from 4-7 p.m. Thursday, June 6 a t Sorden-Lewis Funeral Home, LoneTree

Walter Fredrick Krueger was born Jan. 24,1915 in Johnston County, the son of Charles P. and Augusta (Schur-key) Krueger. On Oct. 10, 1936 he was united in marriage to Gladys D. Attig in Lone Tree. Walter farmed in the Lone Tree area his entire life. He was a member of the United Presbyterian Church, Lone Tree and the Farm Bureau. He enjoyed woodworking, being a greeter at the D & J Tree Farm and spending time with his family.

Survivors include his wife, Gladys; five sons, Ronald D. (Beverly) Krueger, Lone Tree, Duane K. Krueger, Lawler, Alan (Judy) Krueger, New Martinsville, WV, Dwight D. (Julie) Krueger, Nichols and Ray E. Krueger, Maleny, Australia; 15 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

Preceding him in death were his parents and two sisters, Freda Waterhouse and Susie Krueger, in infancy.

Memorials may be directed to the United Presbyterian Church of Lone Tree or the Lone Tree Fire and Rescue.
