IONIA — Lester C. Kalvig, 74, Ionia, died Monday, April 15, 2002 at Mercy Medical Center in New Hampton, as the result of - an automobile accident.

Funeral Services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, April 19 at the Republic Community Church, rural Ionia.

Burial will be in Alpha Cemetery, Alpha.

Visitation was from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday* April 18 at the Chenoweth & Son Funeral Home, Nashua and will also be one hour before services at the church on Friday.

Lester was born Feb. 22, 1928 in Charles City, the son of Alfred and Milaa (Dahlstrom) Kalvig. He served with the Army Air Corps during WWII. He was a self-employed machinist, as well as having worked at Hydrotile, Nashua and Clay Equipment, Cedar Falls.

Survivors include six children, Sharon (Dale) Thompson, New Tazewell, TN, James (Sally) Kalvig, Ionia, Denise (Ron) Zoss, Urbandale, Kimberly (Tom) Sabow, Edina, MN, Michelle (Robin) Weiss, Nashua and Tamara (Frank) Krogh, Waterloo a stepdaughter, Carla (Reuben) Douglas, Denver; two sisters, Adala Springmier, New Hampton and Gloria Ihnen, Cedar Falls; two brothers, Leo Kalvig, LaPorte City and Melvin Kalvig, Ionia; 16 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Preceding him in death were his parents and a brother, Milford Kalvig.
