Jungbluth, Carl P. 1920 - 2002

NEW HAMPTON - Carl (Boom) Paul Jungbluth, 82, New Hampton, died Sunday, Dec. 22, 2002 at Mercy Medical Center, Mason City.

A Memorial Service will be 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 2, 2003 at Trinity Lutheran Church.

Interment will be in Washington, IA at a later date.

Carl was born on March 28, 1920 in LaCrosse, WI, the son of Carl J. and Olga (Smevog) Jungbluth. He graduated from high school in Washington and attended the University of Iowa. He received his preflight training in Iowa City and joined the U.S. Marine Corp. He was stationed cn Midway Island and served as a dive bomber pilot until the end of WWII. He married Mildred Anderson on Sept. 4, 1943. He worked for the American Pearl Button Co., Washington, farmed in southeastern Iowa and near Alta Vista and owned and operated the Ford auto dealership in Washington from 1966 until his retirement in 1974. He loved gardening and flowers, was an avid traveler, hunter and fisherman and his favorite hobby was collecting friends. He was a member of the Shriners and Trinity Lutheran Church.

Survivors include one daughter, Christine (Jerry) Popenhaugen, Middleton, WI, one son, Carl P. (Ronda) Jungbluth, New Hampton; six grandchildren and four greatgrandchildren.

Preceding him in death were his parents; his wife, Mildred; two brothers and two sisters.
