Lawrence L. Johnson, age 72, ot Osage died Friday, Oct. 18, 2002 at the Mitchell County Regional Health Center in Osage from complications of a stroke.

Funeral services were Wednesday, Oct. 23, at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Osage with Rev. Dennis Hanson and Rev. Roy Ott officiating.

Interment was in the Osage Cemetery with military rites conducted by the Osage American Legion Post #278.

Lawrence was born April 8, 1930, in Rolfe, Iowa., the son of Vernet and Mildred (Neilsen) Johnson. He attended school at Rolfe. He served in the U.S. Army from 1951 to 1953.

Lawrence was united in marriage to Faye Dohlman on January 5, 1955, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. They lived and farmed in the Riceville area, and moved to Osage in 1997. He continued to help with farming in the New Haven area and he was noted for being the neighborhood mechanic. He was a member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church.

Lawrence is survived by his wife, Faye, of Osage; two daughters, Vickie Brown and husband Lynn of Osage, and Cindy Bartusek and husband Dave of Osage; three sons, Steven Redbone Johnson of Riceville, Mike Johnson and wife Betty of Stacyville, and Pat Johnson and wife Cindy of Adams, Minn.; four sisters, Delores House and husband Dick of Anchorage, Alas., Elaine West of Riceville; Ilalee Fjetland and husband Donald of Riceville, and Ivadel Fjetland and husband Danny of Riceville; 11 grandchildren; one step-grandson, and two great-grandsons.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Herb Johnson, and one granddaughter, Jodi Oulman in 1995.
