WAVERLY -- Robert F. Hoffman, 70, Waverly, died Wednesday, Dec. 4, 2002 at Waverly Municipal Hospital, Waverly following complications of cancer.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 7 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Waverly with Pastor Mike Tauke presiding.

Burial will be in St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery, Waverly.

Visitation will be from 3-8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 6 at Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home, Waverly, where there will be a public scripture service at 6 p.m.

Robert Francis Hoffman was born Sept. 16, 1932 in Alta Vista, the son of Henry P. and Marcella (Gansen) Hoffman. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Bernard Catholic Church, Alta Vista. He graduated from St. Williams High School, Alta Vista in 1950. On July 22, 1957 he was united in marriage to Rosamond Elda (Rosie) Brase at St. Bernard Catholic Church, Alta Vista. The couple made their home in Frederika from 1958-1988, moving to Waverly in 1988. Robert worked for Rath Packing Company, Waterloo from 1957-1967, then worked at Nestle (Carnation) from 1967 until he retired in 1997.

Survivors include his wife, Rosie; five children, Sharon (Dan) Corrigan, Tra-buco Canyon, CA, David (Shelly) Hoffman, Washington, Cynthia (Andrew) Det-lefsen, Lincoln, NE, Daniel (Kristi) Hoffman, Chaska, MN and Christina Hoffman, Waverly; eight grandchildren; his father, Henry Hoffman, Alta Vista; three sisters, Shirley (Harold) Reuscher, Waverly, Marlys (Duane) Hackman, Davenport, FL and Janice (Kenneth) Fangman, Elma; one brother, Dale (Gayle) Hoffman, Elma and a sister-in-law Marylee Hoffman, Elma.

Preceding him in death was his mother, one son, Douglas Robert Hoffman and a brother, Ronald Hoffman.

Memorials may be directed to either the Hoffman family, St. Mary's Catholic Church or the American Cancer Society.
