Gardner, Glenn M. 1923 - 2002

MADISON, WI - Glenn M. Gardner, 79, Madison, WI, died at his home of cancer.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held at 10 a.m. on Monday, July 22 at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Madison.

Burial was in Resurrection Catholic Cemetery, Madison.

Visitation was held Sunday, July 21 from 4-7 p.m., with a prayer service held at 7 p.m. at Ryan Funeral Home, Madison. Additional visitation was one hour prior to services at the church.

Glenn was born on March 30, 1923 in Fredericksburg, the son of David and Eva (Schurkey) Gardner. He married Lucille Cole on Feb. 18, 1942. Glenn served for three years during World War II in the Navy as an aviation metal smith, and hen graduated from Bradley school of Horology in May 1948. He was employed as a watchmaker with E.W. Parker Jewelers, Schwartz Jewelers in Madison and had his own repair shop out of his home for over 40 years. He was a sports enthusiast, an avid golfer (accomplishing four holes-in-one), a bowler, a card player (especially Euchre and gambling games) with family and friends. He was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus Council #531, Wisconsin Horological Society, life member of the VFW Post #7591, was a Meals on Wheels driver volunteer and assisted with St. Martin House Meals.

Survivors include his wife, Lucille; four children, Carolyn (Dennis) Hamilton, Bloomington, MN, Glenda (Tony) Stein, Midlothian, TX, Glenn D. (Donna) Gardner and Patricia (Denny) Roisum, Madison, WI; four grandchildren and two great-grandsons.

Preceding him in death were his parents and one brother, Chester.
