Feather, Hattie nee Swyter 1915 - 2002

Hattie Feather, age 87, of Riceville, passed away at the St. Olaf Hospital in Austin, Minn, on May 15, 2002 after an extended illness.

Funeral services were held at the Riceville United Methodist Church on Monday, May 20, 2002 with Rev. Michael Carey officiating. Burial was in the Evergreen Cemetery with graveside rites at 2:00 p.m in Britt, Iowa.

Hattie was born in Britt, Iowa on January 29, 1915 to William G. and Anna C. Schroeder Swyter. She attended a country school and graduated from Britt High School in

1932. She furthered her education by attending Britt Jr. College and going on to receive a B.A. degree in education from Upper Iowa University in Fayette, Iowa in 1969. On July 17, 1938 in Pennsylvania, she was united in marriage to Eugene Feather.

Hattie taught social studies in the Riceville school system for 22 years and was an active member in the Riceville United Methodist Church where she served as financial secretary for ten years, served as secretary and leader of U.M.W. She was a leader in 4-H Clubs and enjoyed quilting.

Survivors include one daughter, Mary (Kenny) McRoberts; and one son, Bill (Lila) Feather, both of LeRoy, Minn.; four grandchildren, Dave (Stacey) McRoberts of Byron, Minn., Clint McRoberts, Dan Feather, Brenda (Jason) Hofner, all of LeRoy, Minn, and seven great-granddaughters, and one brother, Bill Swyter, of Humboldt, Iowa.

Hattie was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Eugene in 1990, four brothers and one sister.
