Marie Francis Day, 82, passed away at Oak Ridge Care Center, Union Grove, Wis. on Wednesday, Feb. 27, 2002.

Funeral services were held Friday, March 1, 2002, in Union Grove, with interment in West Lawn Memorial Park in Racine, Wis.

She was born in Riceville, Iowa on April 5, 1919, to Joseph and Rose (nee: Worpel) Reckner. She spent her early life in Riceville Iowa.

On April 5, 1940, in Riceville, Iowa, she was united in marriage to Harlan James Day. Following marriage, she resided in Union Grove. She enjoyed her retirement in Orange City, Fla., moving there in 1970. She then moved back to Riceville, Iowa in 1990 and returned to Union Grove in 1998. She was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Union Grove and was also an avid NASCAR fan.

Surviving are her daughter, Diana Jacobsen of Union Grove; sons, James (Judy) Day of Appleton, Wis. and Jerry (Dee) Day of Pace, Fla.; eight grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren; and sister Mildred Evans of Riceville, Iowa. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; one sister, Grace Tonn; and one son-in-law, Edward Jacobsen.
